Long before the Twilight Book and Movie series put Forks, Wa. on the map, its surrounding rugged and haunting landscape drew a whole different set of fans. This small, unassuming town will act as our staging point for our (daytime-vampire safe) excursions into the local wilds. Olympic National Park’s stunning seascapes and lush rainforests are so beautiful we promise by the end of the week, you’ll be sparkling and glowing just like Edward.
Ebb and flow is the only constant on the Olympic Peninsula. We’ve studied the charts, and almanacs and consulted our astrologer to choose the most auspicious time for our adventure. Olympic National park has some of the best tide pools in the country. Sea stars, rock crabs, giant green anemones, and brittle stars are just some of the sea life that will keep us company as we explore the some of the most western beaches in the lower 48.
Just in case you didn’t know. It really it does rain. Bring your waterproof boots, poncho and unflattering rain pants. The overcast sky and misty rain is the best time to shoot these magical, moss dripping forests and waterfalls. Your Wellies or Neos boots also allow the all-wheel drive necessary for you to get the best shots on the beach.
We get asked all the time what gear we recommend, so we took it upon ourselves to help you out and make a handy dandy list of EVERYTHING we’ve got and love. From what’s in our bag, to our tripod recommendations, to our lighting equipment and everything in between. You never know, we just might help you justify that next purchase. And because we both love gear so much, we’re ok with that.
