Workshops give you the perfect environment to grow. They empower you to elevate your photographs, so you can be the photographer you were always meant to be.
If you go with your instincts and keep your humor, creativity follows. With luck, success comes, too.
We are a vision-based workshop company. What does that mean? Well, it means you have a part in this too; no matter what your skill level, you bring the vision, and we’ll back you up; supporting you every step of the way to help you become the photographer we feel you deserve to be (with a bit of elbow grease, of course).
We want nothing more than for you to show up as yourself in your photography and in your life. We are excited to see what YOU bring to the table, and we’re standing by, ready to help you when you show up for your dreams.
Give me some sugar.
Savannah is old. Really old. Like a weathered old saddle, or peeling paint, or crumbling bricks, or the constitution, or grandma but with warm people and some very pretty oak trees covered in Spanish moss. Think horse-drawn carriages, cobblestone squares, and antebellum architecture at your fingertips. Steeped in history while oozing charm makes it the perfect place to hone your chops.
Whether you’re new to photography or a well-seasoned pro with many years under your belt, this workshop is for you.
A true beauty and an absolute classic. There is no place like Savannah, just like there is no place like home. Discover this little southern gem; she’ll welcome you with open arms.
Tony has the ability to first help find and then cultivate a photographer's interests and style. Keeping or breaking photographic rules is not the goal, this is about creating images we love ourselves and are proud to share with others.
-Paul VargoWe're ready for ya, ask away.
Betcha we already thought of that.
Well, most often, it goes a little something like this... coffee (of course!), morning shoot, break, image critique, evening shoot, dinner (or in our house din din). So you'll be a busy bee with just the right amount of downtime to rest your creative muscles.
Ok, so here's the down-low...A majority of your time will be spent at locations, in critiques, or preparing your images for critiques (while grabbing a bite to eat!). You won't have much downtime, and the schedule will not be conducive to relaxing with your partner in a typical vacationy sort of way. If your partner is the type who likes to do their own thing during that day and is super chill, you might want to buy the extra plane ticket; however, if you'll be worrying all week about how bored/happy they are, it's not a good idea and could put a damper on your experience.
For our domestic workshops we have arranged a block of rooms so we can all stay at the same hotel. We have chosen not to block rooms for international workshops so you can choose the experience that resonates with you based on your preferences and budget. In workshops with no roomblock we will let you know where we will be staying and critiquing so you can select the same hotel or one nearby.
Oh man, these are all quite different scenarios, but there is one thing that can help, Travel Insurance. We regret to inform you that we still do not currently own a crystal ball. So we strongly recommend getting insurance; it's always better to be safe than sorry. Check out our terms and conditions link at the bottom of the page for details and recommendations.
Um, we've heard that before. The answer is, unfortunately, no. We know that with digital cameras, technology is forever involved. We cannot give you tech support for problems that arise with your computer during the workshop. If this happens, we will kindly advise that you call someone who can help you sort out the problem. PB is for photographers who want to take amazing photographs, and we take this very seriously. Time spent on students' computer issues can undermine the workshop experience for other participants, and we're just not cool with that. Please make sure all of your technology is up to date and in excellent working order before attending.
Ok, we're delighted you asked this one. Yourself, first of all. We feel that's entirely necessary. Next, your perfectly working laptop (with plenty of storage and a long-lasting battery and charger cable) with the LATEST version of Lightroom, your camera (in tip-top shape), and any lenses you love and that bring you joy, and some extra cards and batteries, and maybe some sunscreen (reef-safe of course!).
We love new; new is our favorite. With that said, you should come with solid computer skills, a basic understanding of Lightroom, and the ability to upload/download/import/export with ease. You should know how to use folders on your desktop and use Dropbox. Know where you saved your images. Know how to google. Yep, if the struggle gets real in these departments, you'll need to be able to get yourself out of a pickle (or have someone to contact that can help you).
Tuition covers 6 days of amazing hand-selected locations (for the utmost in photogenic beauty, of course). It hopefully covers some belly laughs, critiques, new friendships, & top-notch instruction both in groups and one-on-one while shooting some gorgeous shots you get to take home with you and love forever. And in Italy, one round of gelato.
