A little inspiration for ya…..

I grew up looking at National Geographic and although I wasn’t interested in photography in my youth I can say that all those yellow spined issues definitely shaped me.  Like it or not they helped me develop an appreciation for vision, storytelling and travel.  I’ve not picked up a single copy in the last 15 yrs but I can still feel the weight in my hands and I could imagine that I could identify one while blindfolded.

A great talk…

I’m in New Orleans with the students from my Finding Focus workshop.  We’re having a blast and people are making great strides in their photography even when placed outside their comfort zone.  We’re not even at the halfway point in the workshop and I can see exciting shifts in vision for each photographer. This new format of workshop is unique and exciting and I can’t wait to see where everyone ends up at the culmination of the week.

Okay, so here’s the deal.  We’ve all said we don’t have time.  In fact, you probably lose count of how many times a week you say that to yourself.  We use it as an excuse to push aside the things that aren’t crises or busy work.  The problem is that, in the process we are placing importance on the unimportant while we diminish the things that really matter to us.
